JOB ADVERTISEMENT Zambia Sugar PLC is an ABF Group sugar company and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia. Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products. The Company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions in the Finance Department to be based at Nakambala. 1. DATA ANALYST – TAXATION x 1 – PERMANENT Reporting to: Taxation Accountant Key Responsibilities Direct Tax Ensuring that all the filing of tax related correspondence between the Company, the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), the Government, the Company’s tax consultants and any other stakeholders is accurate and up to date. Assisting with timely submission of tax returns and payments to ZRA. Managing correspondence with ZRA on behalf of the Company. Ensuring that all payments made to ZRA relating to supplier garnishments by ZRA are paid on time, all proof of payments lodged with ZRA and filed correctly. Assisting with tax audit requests, internally or otherwise. Assisting with the ZRA tax agency obligations such as supplier garnishee orders, WHTOT etc. Liaising with the ZRA Offices in ensuring that all supplier payment clearances are obtained in time for timely supplier payments. Maintaining a register of all tax payments for internal and external reporting purposes. Ensuring all tax filings are chronologically done and a register maintained. Assisting with the ZRA Tax Accounts reconciliation to Ledger Accounts on a monthly basis. Indirect Tax Verification and compilation of export sales documents for VAT Rule 18 purposes – Export documents or Acquittals, Tax Invoices and Bank Statements. Assisting with the preparation of VAT Rule 18 status report for Management. Reconciliation of export sales stock transfers in the system to the ZRA customs report to ensure completeness of all declarations, and to actual sales made out of offshore warehouses. Reviewing of original export sales documents and submission of the same to the duty drawback agent for claims processing. Maintaining a record of documents submitted for duty drawback outstanding entries to avoid having time-barred claims. Assisting with the review and compilation of all import documents to support import VAT credits or claims. Preparation of supporting schedules for monthly VAT returns. Assisting with withholding VAT tax obligations and reconciliation of the monthly account statement. Assisting with the submission of written responses to ZRA queries or enquiries. Business, Financial and Operational Accountabilities Ensuring all tax payments taken for capture are fully authorised in time and relevant proof of payments are filed correctly. Ensuring all working paper tax files are kept up to date. Ensuring correspondence files are kept up to date. Responding to stakeholders’ queries on any tax withheld from their payments and where necessary, provide proof of tax withheld e.g. WHT certificates. Assisting with the management of ZRA customs inspections or audits. Conducting reconciliations or data matching analyses to ensure they agree to ZRA across different tax types. Ensuring good record keeping. Undertake any other task assigned by the Tax Accountants – Direct and Indirect Taxes. Customer and Stakeholder Accountabilities To maintain sound working relationships within the Company and with relevant units of the ZRA. Assist with non-complex responses/queries raised by internal and external stakeholders relating to issues like tax withheld, ZRA garnishee orders, etc. People and Leadership Accountabilities Assist the Company with maintaining an efficient and professional Tax Unit by ensuring returns/payments are submitted on time and managing internal and external stakeholder engagements. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 Certificate Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, ACCA / CIMA / ZICA or equivalent. Preferably 1 year experience in a Tax Environment. Excel proficiency is required. Knowledge in Corporate Income Tax (CIT) and Income Tax Act (ITA). Excellent analytical skills. Must be a member of ZICA / ACCA or CIMA. Suitably qualified applicants must provide certificates which have been verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA). 2. FINANCIAL PLANNER x 1 – PERMANENT (RE-ADVERTISED) Reporting to: Finance Business Partner Key Responsibilities Business partnering at a section level with section heads, providing detailed analysis of cost breakdown, querying all cost drivers and ensuring the basis of analysis against forecast/budget parameters. Accountable for all deliverables with minimal or no supervision. Conduct budget/forecast review processes, including detailed analysis of the reasonableness of production-related numbers and review of cost drivers in relation to their impact on cost. Provide and analyze daily production reports showing performance against daily targets to give business performance outlook against monthly targets. Work closely with the Financial Analyst to provide insightful input and commentary on the income statement monthly. Provide accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting in a standardized format done quarterly (estimates) and annually (budget). Coordinate and facilitate strong financial performance through detailed business analytics and insights, focusing on the highest costs, their associated drivers and establishing KPIs that closely measure business performance against them. Work with the business partner to prepare the budget, five-year plans and estimates for the business function up to the approval process. Distribute budget worksheets and relevant information and prepare budget schedules. Provide support to the person compiling and presenting budgets and capital submissions. Conduct monthly meetings with relevant budget holders, promote cost control and provide outlook for the end of the year. Analyze, challenge and process first-level budget and forecast inputs from sectional heads. Analyze and review phasing of all budgets versus actual expenditure and assist budget holders with queries. Liaise with budget holders with regards to estimates and other changes and ensure major variances are investigated and support appropriate corrective actions to get back on track. Review and improve score cards and related processes. Engage in regular internal and external benchmarking. Participate in relevant meetings (i.e., monthly customer meetings, cost meetings for departments) as required. Customer and Stakeholder Accountabilities Develop and maintain favorable stakeholder relationships with all stakeholders. Manage strategic discussions with business partners (internal customers) and other business teams to make sure that their needs are met, and key pain-points are addressed. Form a close working relationship with the Financial Analyst to finalize the historic reporting within the required timeframes. Formulate and manage Service Level Agreements with required stakeholders. People and Leadership Accountabilities Update goals, regularly track performance against these and have frequent discussions (one-on-ones) with the business partner. Minimum Requirements Financial Planner Grade 12 Certificate (or Equivalent). Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy / Business Administration / Equivalent. Added advantage ACCA, CIMA, CA Zambia. Must be a member of the Zambia Institute for Chartered Accountants (ZICA). Preferably 3–5 years’ experience in management / cost accounting environment. Experience in SAP system will be an added advantage. Suitably qualified applicants must provide certificates which have been verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA). 3. FINANCE OFFICER – TREASURY x 1 (RE-ADVERTISED) The position reports to the Treasury Analyst. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Treasury Analyst in managing treasury’s liquidity including daily funding requirements, interest rate exposure, foreign exchange exposure and managing the day-to-day treasury activities. Key Responsibilities Provision of daily liquidity review and advising of the most competitive facilities to utilize as well as making necessary fund transfers between banks. Perform bank reconciliations and ensure all reconciling items are followed up and resolved timeously before the close of the following financial period end. Perform control account reconciliations for loan accounts, dividends accounts and hedging control accounts. Analyze bank transactions, both receipts and payments and work closely with the Treasury Analyst to prepare the monthly cash flow forecast. Analyse Bank overdraft utilization and prepare monthly interest accrual schedules. Record, capture and generate receipts for all sales revenue that comes through the mobile money applications, molasses sales, sundry income as well as unidentified cash deposits/receipts that are not processed by the Receivables team. Ensure the completeness of bank deposits by following up on all payments on the cash clearing accounts and one time customer accounts. Support dividend payments process as and when required. Review banking platforms access rights and ensure correct access for all users. Upload 14 bank statements for all bank accounts not currently interfaced with SAP and supported by MT940 formatting. Minimum Requirements Grade 12 Certificate. Degree in Accounting or Intermediate level in ACCA, CIMA, ZICA or a related field. Preferably 3–5 years relevant working experience. Treasury background will be an added advantage. Excel proficiency is required. Must be a member of ZICA.
