Under the EU NaturAfrica–funded Connecting Livelihoods and Landscape (CoLiLa) Project, FZS is expanding its work within the Malawi–Zambia Transfrontier Conservation Area (MAZA TFCA), strengthening biodiversity conservation, inclusive livelihoods, and rights-based community governance.About the RoleThe Community Liaison Assistant will support day-to-day community engagement and communication under the EU NaturAfrica CoLiLa Project. The role serves as a critical link between communities and the project team, supporting consultations, information sharing, grievance mechanisms, and participatory processes.Working under the supervision of senior field staff, the position will help ensure that project activities are well understood, inclusive, culturally appropriate, and responsive to community feedback.Your TasksThe Community Liaison Assistant will:Support community consultations, meetings, and awareness sessionsAct as a liaison between communities, Traditional Authorities, and the project team Assist in mobilisation for community activities, trainings, and electionsSupport implementation and communication of Grievance Redress Mechanisms (GRMs)Record and relay community feedback, concerns, and priorities to project staffSupport the dissemination of project information, including EU visibility messagingAssist with documentation of meetings, attendance, and activity reportsSupport conflict-sensitive engagement and FPIC processesWork closely with Community Conservation Officers and Educators in the fieldPerform any other duties required to support effective project implementationYour ProfileQualificationsCertificate or Diploma in Community Development, Social Work, Natural Resource Management, or a related fieldRelevant community facilitation training is an advantageExperienceMinimum 2 years’ experience in community engagement, outreach, or liaison rolesExperience working with traditional leadership and community structuresFamiliarity with rural development or conservation programmesThe ability to communicate effectively in local languages is essentialExperience working in remote field settingsKey Competencies & AttributesStrong interpersonal and communication skillsTrust-building and listening abilityCultural sensitivity and respect for local normsBasic reporting and record-keeping skillsWillingness to live and work in rural communitiesWe OfferMeaningful field-based work supporting community participation in conservationOpportunity to work in a unique transboundary conservation landscapeSupportive supervision and opportunities for learning and growthCompetitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experienceApplication DeadlineIf you are passionate and ready to take on this challenge, please submit your Curriculum Vitae and Cover Letter outlining your relevant experience and motivation for applying by clicking the link below:https://zoologisch.jobs.personio.de/job/2604308?_pc=1559584#applyApplicants should include three (3) traceable referees with a brief description of the working relationship and contact details.
