Follow The Mechanical Fitter will fit and assemble pipes and metal parts to fabricate production machines and other equipment. Maintain and repair mechanical plant machinery and equipment to operational standards. Test and identify defective pipes or worn mechanical components or equipment. Mechanical fitters also use precision measuring instruments to check parts for accuracy and fit. Summary of Key Responsibilities: Analyzing the blueprints for mechanical systems to determine the specifications of the components to be constructed. Execute all mechanical maintenance, pipe installation and repairs ensuring efficient operations. Constructing structural components from raw materials Using welding equipment to fuse structural components Inspecting fabricated components to ensure that they are the correct size. Utilizing shears, power saws, cutting torches, and chipper knives to cut structural components as needed. Creating a suitable maintenance schedule and performing system maintenance accordingly. Identify and resolve issues associated with mechanical breakdown corrective maintenance at assigned location Conducting diagnostic testing on malfunctioning systems to determine the root cause of the malfunction. Replacing damaged or defective structural components as needed. Adhering to all work-site safety rules and regulations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Good communication and organizational skills Exceptional welding and mechanical skills. Ability to use hand and power tools Ability to concentrate for extended periods. Primary Areas of Accountability: Craft Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Fitting from reputable institution/college Must have a minimum of at least 2+ years previous work experience as a fitter Ability to interpret blueprints for mechanical systems.
