Follow Mthunzi Centre was established in 2000 and is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO) in Zambia dedicated to providing care, protection, and opportunities for vulnerable children and young people. The Centre is home to approximately 40 vulnerable children and youths, most of whom have been rescued from the streets of Lusaka. Located in the Tubalange area of Lusaka West, Mthunzi Centre is situated on a spacious farm that is partly cultivated and partly covered with indigenous trees, creating a peaceful and family-oriented environment where children and young people can grow, learn and thrive. Mthunzi Centre is seeking to recruit a qualified, experienced and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Accountant & Administration Officer. The Accountant & Administration Officer will be responsible for managing the Centre’s financial operations and overseeing administrative functions to ensure efficient, transparent, and accountable management of resources in support of the Centre’s mission.Resume building service Maintain accurate accounting records and books of accounts. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports. Manage cash flow, bank reconciliations, petty cash, payroll and accounts payable/receivable. Prepare annual budgets and monitor expenditure against approved budgets. Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including tax obligations. Liaise with external auditors, banks, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders. Maintain fixed asset and inventory registers. Oversee procurement processes and ensure value for money. Manage office administration, filing systems, and record keeping. Support donor financial reporting and grant management where applicable. Develop and strengthen internal financial controls and administrative procedures. Perform any other duties assigned by the Centre Manager. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements: A Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A Bachelor’s Degree will be an added advantage. Must be a registered member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) with a valid membership certificate. A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience in accounting and administration. Experience working with NGOs or donor-funded organisations will be an added advantage. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, and accounting software. Sound knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, accounting principles, and internal controls. Good understanding of Zambian tax and statutory requirements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. The successful candidate should demonstrate: High levels of honesty, integrity and professionalism. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team. Commitment to accountability, confidentiality, and the welfare of vulnerable children and young people.
