Safety Officer

JOB TITLE: SAFETY OFFICER Job Location: Kapiri Mposhi Company Name: Hiya Agri Zambia Ltd JOB DESCRIPTION Provide HSE supervision. Monitor compliance with company HSE policies, client safety standards, and statutory regulations. Conduct routine warehouse inspections, safety audits, and workplace hazard assessments. Ensure all personnel comply with safe work procedures, permit-to-work systems, and risk control measures. Monitor high-risk activities during new project or maintenance the plant. Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and shift handovers to reinforce safe work practices. Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, ensuring timely reporting and implementation of corrective actions. Verify that all contractors and employees use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Stop unsafe work where necessary and recommend corrective or preventive actions. Support emergency response activities and ensure emergency equipment remains operational and accessible. Maintain accurate HSE records, inspection reports, incident reports, and compliance documentation. Liaise with client HSE representatives to ensure continued compliance with contractual HSE requirements. Mentor all employees on safety awareness and best practices. Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Monitor environmental compliance, including waste management, dust suppression, spill prevention, and housekeeping standards. Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, leadership, and visible commitment to HSE excellence. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Safety Management, or a related discipline. Membership with a recognised professional safety body. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Health, Safety and Environment.
