REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA MINISTRY OF GREEN ECONOMY AND ENVIRONMENT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Environmental & Readiness Support Specialist The Ministry of Green Economy and Environment seeks to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced Zambian to fill the following vacant position under the National Designated Authority (NDA). JOB TITLE Environmental & Readiness Support Specialist GRADE NDA 2 INSTITUTION Ministry of Green Economy and Environment DEPARTMENT National Designated Authority (NDA) JOB PURPOSE To undertake the development, review and implementation of readiness and support programmes in order to strengthen institutional capacities, governance mechanisms and planning and programming frameworks. Reporting to: National Coordinator Responsibilities: Undertakes effectively the development, implementation and review of readiness support programmes in order enhance capacity project implementers to address climate change effects. Undertakes effectively the assessment of environmental safeguards for the Green Climate Fund, Adaptation Fund and other financiers’ projects and programmes development in order to ensure compliance to set standards. Undertakes effectively the alignment of environmental matters to climate funds and their associated programming in order to ensure they reflect national development priorities. Undertakes effectively the appraisal of projects in order to determine adherence to environmental safeguards and readiness for support. Undertakes effectively the readiness related vetting of potential national implementing entities in order to facilitate accreditation. Undertakes effectively the development, implementation and review of proposal development capacity building programmes in order to enhance stakeholder capacity in project and programme development. Qualifications and Requirements: Full Form V/Grade 12 School Certificate. Degree in Natural Science or equivalent. Eight years’ experience two of which should have been in management. Ability to write technical and analytical reports. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Computer literate.
