Role Overview
The Country Deli Manager will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for deli
departments across more than 40 grocery stores nationwide. This senior role requires proven
experience in managing multiple deli operations, with strong expertise in recipe development, product
innovation, and large-scale team management. The successful candidate will drive operational
excellence, ensure product quality and consistency, and deliver innovative deli offerings that enhance
customer satisfaction and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
• Operational Leadership
o Oversee deli operations across 40+ retail outlets in Zambia.
o Ensure consistent product quality, freshness, hygiene, and compliance with food safety
standards.
o Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices for deli
departments.
• Recipe Development & Product Innovation
o Lead recipe development and introduce new deli products tailored to customer
preferences.
o Collaborate with merchandising and marketing teams to design promotional campaigns.
o Monitor market trends and adapt deli offerings to maintain competitiveness.
• Team Management
o Recruit, train, and mentor deli managers and staff across all stores.
o Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
o Conduct regular performance reviews and implement staff development plans.
• Financial & Strategic Oversight
o Manage budgets, cost control, and profitability of deli operations.
o Conduct regular sales analysis and forecasting to support business growth.
o Negotiate with suppliers to secure quality products at competitive prices.
• Customer Engagement & Service Excellence
o Ensure exceptional customer service standards across all deli departments.
o Implement customer feedback mechanisms to continuously improve offerings.
o Drive initiatives to increase customer loyalty and repeat business.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field
(mandatory).
• Minimum 8–10 years of experience managing deli or food service operations, including recipe
development.
• Proven management experience overseeing multiple outlets or large teams.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
