The successful candidate will assist with maintaining accurate accounting records, processing financial transactions, performing reconciliations, supporting month-end reporting, and maintaining effective financial controls.The role will have a particular focus on inventory accounting and control, making an understanding of inventory movements, stock records, stock valuation, cost of sales and reconciliations important. The Assistant Accountant will work closely with the Accountant, Finance Manager and other departments to ensure financial information is accurate, complete and up to date.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records and financial transactions.Process invoices, payments, receipts, journals and other accounting entries accurately and in a timely manner.Assist with bank, supplier, customer and general ledger reconciliations.Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.Maintain and update inventory accounting records, including stock purchases, stock movements, adjustments and valuations.Reconcile inventory records between the accounting system, inventory records and physical stock.Assist in monitoring inventory costs and investigating stock discrepancies and variances.Assist with the calculation and recording of cost of sales.Support stock counts and ensure physical inventory records are accurately reflected in the accounting system.Assist with monitoring accounts payable and accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances where required.Assist with cash flow monitoring and preparation of financial schedules.Ensure that appropriate supporting documentation is maintained for all financial transactions.Assist with budgeting, forecasting and basic financial analysis as required.Assist in maintaining compliance with company accounting policies, procedures and applicable statutory requirements.Support internal and external audits by preparing relevant schedules and providing supporting documentation.Identify accounting discrepancies and bring them to the attention of the Accountant or Finance Manager for resolution.Assist with maintaining proper filing and organisation of financial records.Work closely with procurement, stores, sales and other departments to ensure accurate financial and inventory information.Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial information at all times.Perform any other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.Required Qualifications & ExperienceDiploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.Candidates pursuing a professional accounting qualification such as ZICA, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent qualification are encouraged to apply.Approximately 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience.Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles and practices.Some experience in inventory accounting, stock control or stock reconciliations is highly desirable.Good understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and general ledger processes.Experience using accounting, inventory management or ERP systems.Exposure to stock counts, stock adjustments, inventory valuation and cost-of-sales processes.Good Excel skills, including the ability to work with financial data and reconciliations.High level of accuracy and attention to detail.Good analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to follow accounting procedures and maintain accurate records.Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with other departments.Good communication and organisational skills.Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.High level of integrity and professionalism.CompensationThe incumbent will receive a competitive salary commensurate with experience.To ApplyPlease send your CV to careers@talenthousepeople.com before 16th October 2026.
