Senior Mechanic

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanic with proven expertise in Mercedes Actros and DAF trucks. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty vehicles to ensure fleet reliability, compliance, and operational efficiency.Key Responsibilities• Diagnostics & Repairso Perform advanced fault diagnosis using electronic tools (e.g., CAN bus systems, diagnostic software).o Repair and overhaul engines, transmissions, braking systems, and electrical components.o Conduct preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on Mercedes Actros and DAF trucks.• Workshop Operationso Supervise junior mechanics and provide technical guidance.o Ensure adherence to safety standards and compliance with manufacturer specifications.o Maintain accurate service records and job cards.• Fleet Supporto Conduct roadworthiness inspections and prepare vehicles for compliance checks.o Support logistics operations by minimizing downtime through efficient repairs.o Liaise with suppliers for spare parts procurement and ensure quality standards.Qualifications & Skills• Education: Diploma/Certificate in Automotive Engineering or equivalent.• Experience: Minimum 5–7 years in heavy-duty truck maintenance, with specialization in Mercedes Actros and DAF.• Technical Skills:o Proficiency in electronic diagnostics (Mercedes-Benz Star Diagnosis, DAF DAVIE).o Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.o Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.• Soft Skills:o Leadership and mentoring ability.o Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.o Excellent communication and reporting skills.Competencies• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.• Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.Employment Details• Location: Workshop/Depot (Lusaka/Kitwe).• Reports to: Fleet Operations & Logistics Manager.• Contract Type: Full-time, permanent.• Remuneration: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications.
