Health and Safety Officer

A Health and Safety Officer is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment. The officer identifies workplace hazards, ensures compliance with health and safety laws, and supports employees in following safe work practices.### Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments.- Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.- Develop, implement, and review health and safety policies and procedures.- Ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety laws and regulations.- Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near misses.- Prepare incident reports and recommend preventive measures.- Provide health and safety training and orientation to employees.- Conduct emergency drills, including fire and evacuation drills.- Maintain health and safety records, permits, and inspection reports.- Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).- Work with managers and employees to improve safety standards.- Liaise with regulatory authorities, contractors, and other relevant parties.- Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization.### Qualifications and Requirements- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Safety, or a related field.- Professional health and safety certification is an advantage, such as: - First Aid and CPR certification- Two or more years of experience in a health and safety position is preferred.           (Construction and Manufacturing)- Good knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation and Manufacturing) Experience conducting risk assessments and accident investigations.- Strong communication, report-writing, and presentation skills.- Good problem-solving and organizational abilities.- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently.- Ability to train and advise employees at all levels.- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.- Physical ability to inspect work areas and use required safety equipment.### Personal Qualities- Responsible and safety-conscious- Professional and approachable- Proactive and observant- Honest and trustworthy- Able to work under pressure- Strong leadership and teamwork skills
