Job Description

FARM WORKSHOP MECHANICQualifications and ExperienceThe successful candidate must meet the following requirements:Minimum of a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from a reputable institution. At least 5 years of relevant experience. Experience in the repair and maintenance of tractors, diesel engines, and farm implements is essentialPrevious experience as a workshop mechanic in a busy agricultural environment will be an added advantage. Knowledge of irrigation systems, including booster pump installations, borehole pumps, and centre pivot irrigation systems. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ). Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:Planning and executing workshop activities in liaison with the Farm Manager, ensuring high levels of prioritization and efficiency. Ensuring that farm machinery and equipment are serviced on time and maintained in good working condition to minimize downtime during field operations. Diagnosing mechanical faults on farm machinery and equipment. Repairing machinery and equipment whenever breakdowns occur. Overhauling farm machinery and vehicles. Calibrating and setting farm machinery and equipment for field operations. Maintaining accurate records of repairs and maintenance carried out on all machinery and equipment. Ensuring the workshop, machinery, equipment, and surrounding areas are kept clean, safe, and organized. Supervising workshop staff.
