Job Description
Family Legacy Missions Zambia (FLMZ) is a Christian faith-based organisation committed to glorifying God by equipping vulnerable children in Zambia to live out their God-given potential. Through our Legacy Academies, Tree of Life Children's Village and Camp Life programmes, we provide holistic care to more than 9,000 children across 18 locations, focusing on their academic, emotional, spiritual and physical development.We are seeking an experienced, passionate and Christ-centred professional to join our leadership team as Manager – Counselling and Social & Emotional Learning (SEL). Position SummaryThe Manager – Counselling and Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of Family Legacy's counselling and psychosocial support programmes. The role is responsible for developing and implementing the organisation's SEL strategy, strengthening counselling services, building staff capacity, ensuring programme quality, promoting child safeguarding, and integrating emotional wellbeing into the organisation's holistic child development model.Child SafeguardingFamily Legacy Missions Zambia is committed to safeguarding children and creating safe environments for all learners. The successful candidate will be expected to uphold the organisation's Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct. Appointment is subject to satisfactory safeguarding checks.Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will:Lead the strategic planning, implementation and continuous improvement of Counselling and SEL programmes.Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of counselling, psychosocial support and SEL interventions across all programme locations. Lead, coach, mentor and develop multidisciplinary counselling and SEL teams.Promote trauma-informed, child-centred and evidence-based practices that strengthen learner wellbeing and resilience.Champion child safeguarding, case management and referral systems in accordance with organisational policies and statutory requirements.Oversee programme monitoring, evaluation, reporting and continuous learning.Build and maintain productive relationships with schools, communities, churches, government agencies, donors and other stakeholders.Manage departmental planning, budgeting and resource utilisation.Contribute to organisational leadership, policy development and compliance while modelling Christian servant leadership.QualificationsApplicants must possess: ZAQA-validated Grade 12 School Certificate with a minimum of five (5) credits including English. ZAQA-validated Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Educational Psychology, Social Work, Guidance and Counselling, Mental Health or another relevant behavioural science. A Master's Degree in a related field will be an added advantage.Registration with the relevant professional body, where applicable.A valid driver's licence.ExperienceApplicants should demonstrate:At least seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in counselling, psychology, psychosocial support, social work or Social and Emotional Learning.A minimum of three (3) years in a leadership or supervisory role.Experience designing, implementing and evaluating counselling or psychosocial support programmes.Experience working with vulnerable children and adolescents using trauma-informed approaches.Experience in child safeguarding, case management and referral systems.Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, stakeholder engagement, budgeting and programme reporting.Experience within the education sector, NGO, faith-based or donor-funded environment will be an added advantage.Knowledge and CompetenciesThe successful candidate should possess:Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development, trauma-informed care, counselling and Social & Emotional Learning. Understanding of child safeguarding, case management and psychosocial support programming.Excellent leadership, coaching, mentoring and stakeholder engagement skills.Strong planning, analytical, organisational and decision-making abilities.High emotional intelligence, integrity, professionalism and accountability.
