Job Description
Job SummaryThe Civil Works Supervisor will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all civil construction activities at the Kawambwa Sugar Limited project site, including farm infrastructure, factory foundations, buildings, roads, drainage systems, and associated structures.The role ensures that all civil works are executed as per drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project timelines, while maintaining strict safety and cost control measures.Key ResponsibilitiesSite Supervision & ExecutionSupervise day-to-day civil construction activities at site (earthworks, concrete works, structures, roads, drainage, foundations, etc.)Ensure works are executed as per approved drawings, BOQs, and technical specificationsMonitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to project timelinesCoordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and site labour teamsQuality ControlEnsure all civil works meet required quality standards and engineering specificationsConduct regular inspections and quality checks on materials and workmanshipVerify measurements and maintain proper records of work completedAddress and rectify any quality deviations or non-conformancesProject CoordinationCoordinate with mechanical, electrical, and other project teams for integrated project executionAssist in planning and scheduling of civil works activitiesEnsure availability of materials and resources at site in coordination with procurement and storesSupport site engineers and project managers in execution planningSafety & ComplianceEnsure adherence to site safety protocols and statutory regulationsPromote a safe working environment and enforce use of PPEReport and mitigate any unsafe conditions or practicesEnsure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirementsDocumentation & ReportingMaintain daily site reports, progress updates, and work logsTrack work progress against project scheduleAssist in preparation of measurement sheets, billing verification, and contractor invoicesMaintain records of materials, labour, and site activitiesCost & Resource ManagementMonitor material usage and minimize wastageAssist in tracking project costs and highlighting variancesEnsure efficient utilization of manpower, equipment, and resourcesQualifications & ExperienceEducationBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory)Experience5–7 years of relevant experience in civil constructionExperience in industrial projects, infrastructure, or agro-based projects preferredExposure to large-scale project execution (factory, farm development, roads, etc.) will be an advantageTechnical SkillsStrong knowledge of civil construction methods and materialsAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOQsFamiliarity with project planning and execution processesBasic knowledge of quantity surveying and billing verificationWorking knowledge of MS Excel and reporting toolsKey CompetenciesStrong site supervision and coordination skillsAttention to detail and quality orientationProblem-solving and decision-making abilityAbility to work under pressure in remote site conditionsGood communication and team coordination skillsPreferred RequirementsExperience working on factory construction / industrial projects / large farmsFamiliarity with rural or remote project environmentsExposure to multi-disciplinary project coordinationKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)Completion of civil works within scheduleQuality compliance and minimal reworkAdherence to safety standards (zero incidents target)Contractor performance and productivityEfficient utilization of materials and cost controlWorking ConditionsBased primarily at Kawambwa project/farm siteRequires extensive onsite supervision and coordinationAccommodation and site facilities provided (as per company policy) All qualified candidates are required to submit a cover letter and Curriculum Vitae (CV), combined into asingle document.
