Organization: PEAS Zambia Location: Zambia (Lusaka and selected provinces/districts) Contract Type: Short-term consultancy (time-bound field assignment) Reporting to: Senior Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer Application Deadline: 15 June 2026 Fieldwork Period: 29 June – 19 July 2026 Payment Completion: By 31 July 2026About PEASPromoting Equality in African Schools (PEAS) operates one of the largest not-for-profit secondary school networks in Sub-Saharan Africa, supporting over 18,000 learners annually across Uganda and Zambia. PEAS works closely with government partners to strengthen education systems and improve learning outcomes, with a strong focus on equity, evidence, and system improvement.In Zambia, PEAS collaborates with the Curriculum Development Centre (CDC) and the Ministry of Education on the implementation of the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) under the 2023 Zambia Education Curriculum Framework.Assignment OverviewPEAS is undertaking a targeted qualitative consultation and mapping exercise to support the implementation of Zambia’s Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC). The study will include key informant interviews across school, district, provincial, central government, and partner levels.We are recruiting Enumerators to conduct interviews, ensure accurate recording, and produce high-quality verbatim transcripts to support analysis and reporting.Key Responsibilities1. Conduct Key Informant InterviewsConduct semi-structured interviews using PEAS-approved guidesEngage respondents from schools, district/provincial education offices, Ministry structures, and partner organisationsObtain informed consent and follow ethical research protocols2. Recording & DocumentationRecord all interviews using a reliable audio device (mandatory)Ensure clear audio quality and proper consent proceduresMaintain accurate interview logs (participants, roles, dates, locations)3. TranscriptionProduce verbatim transcripts from audio recordingsUse approved transcription tools where appropriate, followed by manual verificationSubmit full transcripts (not summaries) in the required format4. Data Quality & ManagementEnsure secure storage of all recordings and transcriptsLabel and organize files according to PEAS standardsParticipate in quality assurance reviews and corrections during fieldworkRequired ProfileApplicants should have:Proven experience conducting qualitative key informant interviews (not only surveys)Familiarity with Zambia’s education sector (CDC, DEBS, provincial and district education offices, Ministry structures)Strong written and spoken English communication skillsExperience in recording interviews and using transcription toolsStrong organizational and documentation skillsAbility to work independently under tight timelinesRequirements:Own laptop (mandatory)Smartphone or reliable audio recording device (mandatory)Availability during the full fieldwork period (29 June – 19 July 2026)DeliverablesCompleted key informant interviews as per assigned sampleVerbatim transcripts for all interviews conductedInterview tracking log (participants, roles, dates, locations)Submission of clean, clearly labelled transcript filesSafeguarding & EthicsPEAS is committed to safeguarding children and preventing harm.
