CAD Technician / Rebar Detailer (Civil/Structural)

Our client, an energy and infrastructure development company operating in Zambia is seeking a talented CAD Technician / Rebar Detailer (Civil/Structural) to join their team developing a large‑scale power generation project in Southern Province.About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate reinforcement drawings, Bar Bending Schedules (BBS), clash-free layouts, and construction‑ready documents that ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality project execution.This position is critical to ensuring constructability, compliance with engineering standards, and alignment with project quality and schedule requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesProduce and interpret structural drawings, including accurate reinforcement shop drawings using structural and Chinese 11G101 standards·      Produce detailed rebar shop drawings (layouts, sections, anchorage, laps, hooks, couplers).Prepare detailed Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) with bar marks, shape codes, cutting lengths, and quantitiesInterpret structural drawings and break complex elements into clear, buildable pour segmentsIdentify and resolve clashes involving rebar layers, anchor bolts, embedded plates, and service openingsEnsure compliance with concrete cover, vibration clearance, and practical site‑fixing requirementsCoordinate with site engineers, QA/QC teams, and steel fixers to issue clarifications and fix sequencesSupport real‑time adjustments during construction to maintain buildability and qualityExtract rebar quantities for procurement and track steel usage on siteProduce reinforcement tonnage reports and maintain accurate documentationDevelop and update as‑built reinforcement drawings to reflect final construction conditionsExperience:Minimum 5 years’ experience in reinforced concrete (RC) detailingDemonstrated experience on industrial structures, power plants, or heavy foundationsAbility to interpret structural drawings even where BBS is not providedFamiliarity with Chinese 11G101 standard is a strong advantageStrong RC detailing background, including mass concrete and multilayer reinforcementUnderstanding of reinforcement standards (British/Eurocode or Chinese GB)High attention to detail; errors in reinforcement are considered critical risksSoftware Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory). Highly preferred, Tekla Structures (Rebar), Revit and Excel skills for BBS preparation and optimizationInterested and qualified candidates should submit in a single document their Cover letter, CV and copies of Academic and Professional qualifications.
