<p><strong>ENERGY REGULATION BOARD</strong></p> <p><strong>VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT</strong></p> <p><strong>Job Title</strong>: Assistant Accountant (x2)<br /> <strong>Job Type</strong>: Permanent and Pensionable<br /> <strong>Location</strong>: Head Office Lusaka and Regional Office( Kasama or Livingstone).<br /> <strong>ERB Grade</strong>: ERB 6<br /> <strong>Reports To</strong>: Senior Manager Finance</p> <p><strong>Background</strong></p> <p>The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) is a statutory body created by the Energy Regulation Act No. 12 of 2019 to regulate Zambia&#8217;s energy sector. The ERB is looking to hire qualified and experienced Zambian nationals to fill the position of <strong>Assistant Accountant</strong> to be based at its Head Office in Lusaka and Regional Office (Kasama or Livingstone).</p> <p><strong>Job Purpose</strong></p> <p>Responsible for various accounting tasks, ranging from maintaining financial records to providing support to the smooth functioning of accounting department and the overall financial health of the Energy Regulation Board.</p> <p><strong>Main Duties and Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Monitoring submission of Revenue Returns and payments for energy sector Funds</li> <li>Pursue collection of unpaid amounts</li> <li>Reconcile debtor accounts and prepare debtor reports</li> <li>Conduct revenue compliance audits and prepare reports</li> <li>Process supplier payments and staff payments</li> <li>Perform supplier reconciliations</li> <li>Perform monthly Bank reconciliations</li> </ul> [wp_code title="Fluid Ad"] <p><strong>Required Skills</strong></p> <ul> <li><strong>Technical Accounting Knowledge</strong>: Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable.</li> <li><strong>Software Proficiency</strong>: High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets) and Word and Accounting software packages</li> <li><strong>Analytical Skills</strong>: Ability to analyse financial data, identify trends, detect discrepancies, and perform reconciliations.</li> <li><strong>Attention to Detail &amp; Accuracy</strong>: Having a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining accuracy in financial records and a high level of precision for data entry.</li> <li><strong>Numerical Ability</strong>: Strong mathematical skills for performing calculations and verifying figures.</li> <li><strong>Organizational &amp; Time Management Skills</strong>: Effectively managing time and ability to prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines for daily, monthly, or yearly reporting.</li> <li><strong>Communication Skills and interpersonal skills</strong>: Possessing strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders.
